“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
Fall is my favorite time of year. It’s carmel apple cider. It’s boots and scarves. It’s pumpkin flavored everything.
September marks not only the beginning of fall, but is Hunger Action Month. In 2013, 49.1 million Americans lived in food insecure households, including 33.3 million adults and 15.8 million children. Hunger isn’t something going on in other parts of the world – its happening here. Luckily there are several fun (and easy) ways to welcome fall while also helping to put an end to hunger.
This year The Feed Foundation has launched a new campaign, the Feed Supper. The campaign runs from September 16th through October 16th and it’s the perfect excuse to invite a few friends over and throw a dinner party. Rather than having friends to bring a dish or bottle to share, ask them instead to donate to The Feed Foundation so they can continue to donate meals to people in need.
For those of you who love to celebrate wine wednesdays, celebrate the start of fall with a bottle of One Hope Wine’s Sparkling Wine. Half of the profits from each bottle sold is donated to End Child Hunger: The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) which is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger world wide, reaching 97 million people in 80 countries with food assistance in 2013.
And for those of you who prefer to be more active, you can always visit a local food bank and support Feeding America by either packaging meals or donating food for them to distribute.
,So welcome fall in your own special way and feel a little less guilty about celebrating by helping provide meals for others.
I just wanted to let you know that you are a wonderful girl and doing a great job! Congrats! And believe me if I say congrats that comes from the heart as I am a very critical person
